Stay with us for an unforgettable 7 days with 5 days all-inclusive on board. This exciting photography workshop will have you exploring Southern Central Alaska with Dan M Lee as your photography coach and Paul Brand as your host and captain. A professional bear naturalist will be joining us on-board to help you get the most out of your trip.
Once you arrive in Kodiak, Alaska you’re in good hands as you be received into a welcome presentation and then you stay overnight before you depart on your photography workshop photographing bears and other wildlife the next day.
All food and soft drink is included as well as tuition, accommodation while on board with us.
What Clothing To Bring
The weather will be very mild June reaches around 47.0°F low and 62.3°F high with July a low of 51.5°F and highs around 65.3°F so bring layers and a waterproof shell at the very least. bring enough socks (expect them to get wet) and some decent hiking books and day pack. Sleep clothes are a must as well as a towel and wash / personal hygiene kit. Water bottle that can attach to your bag preferably metallic and some hand sanitizer.
What Camera Equipment To Bring
Highly recommend the following equipment for your bear photography workshop
Carbon fiber tripod (such as Sirui W-2204) with a ball head.
Long lens like a 70mm-400mm f/4 or better.
Wide angle lens 15mm-30mm f/4 or better.
Circular Polarizer and UV Filter (Tiffen or Hoya at a minimum spec).
Full frame camera is preferred.
Many batteries and chargers (5 batteries and 2 chargers as a suggestion)
You will be responsible for your flight to Kodiak and accommodation in Kodiak before and after the boat portion of the tour (unless you have bought a hotel ticket package from us), we depart on day 2 and return on day 6. We have block booked some space at a local hotel the night before (at a discount) and the night after the tour. For the opening presentation with free alcohol and our last night of critique and feedback again with free alcohol. You are welcome to stay as long as you wish on Kodiak after the tour as there is plenty to do and see, again this will be at your own cost.
All other food and soft drink while on the boat is included with your tour along with the flightseeing and seaplane tour to and from the Alaska Dawn and Kodiak Island.
